SELLING YOUR COSMETIC LASER or OTHER COSMETIC DEVICE
In the past our clients would simply roll the old laser into the corner and roll the new laser into its place with no real solution for selling their technology that is no longer being utilized. Times have changed and there are many resources available for you to sell your laser or other cosmetic device and get a fair price for it. When selling your cosmetic laser or device it is important that you understand a few key issues that will prevent you from obtaining top dollar and that will cause unfair depreciation to your device.
#1 Regardless of how long of a warranty you purchased with your device the manufacturer will not allow the warranty to be transferred. Due to this reason your device, if currently under warranty now, will not be once it transfers to the new owner. Knowing this you should contact the manufacturer of your device and order a service call for them to come in and service the device, check it over thoroughly, and perform any necessary hardware or software upgrades that may be applicable to your unit. If under warranty, this service should be free & will ensure that the device you wish to sell is in perfect working order and up to date with current standards.
#2 The manufacturer that you purchased from will not recognize the new owner without them first spending between $10-30,000 on a "Re Registration" fee just to put the laser into their name. This "fee" dramatically reduces the available amount of money you will receive for your device as these fees cause unfair depreciation to your laser or other device. Given that the new owner will be essentially "Black Listed" until they pay this fee they will not be able to obtain service, parts, upgrades, or even access to marketing or other owner related programs that may be available through the manufacturer. Once you sell your device any coverage, support, warranty, or other recognition is immediately withdrawn & the device is looked at with scrutiny and in most cases disdain. These collective reasons dramatically affect the resale value of your device as it is akin to selling a car and the new owner will not be able to change the oil, buy new tires, or get any component repaired unless they pay an unfair "re registration" fee. You will find that due to the level of risk a new owner will take when purchasing a pre owned medical device the amount of money you will receive for your device will not be what it should be or what you expect.
#3 Consignment programs and FSBO websites that are available to you will most likely do nothing but prolong the inevitable and cost you precious time which will equate to lost money as your device will not go up in value as you wait and in fact it will go down. Any given factor could also cause the price to fall when in fact you could have already sold the unit but instead you waited to try and get a higher price that simply cannot be attained. One of these factors is obsolescence or discontinuance which can happen at any time. One month your device will be easily sold and the next it will not be possible to sell it as the market moves fast and this is one of those times that a "Bird in the hand" is worth a lot more than "Three in the bush". Obtain a fair wholesale price that will allow you to quickly sell and not have to hassle with expensive shipping or packaging and take it. Holding on for more money, paying to market your device, or other options for consignment will only delay the inevitable and cost you money as you wait. These programs are designed to help one person, "THE BROKER" as they use your device to build a "Virtual Inventory" of devices to market and sell of which are only worth what you have already been told. What happens is you grow tired, time passes, and the broker will eventually come to you with a similar price that you have already been offered and you will take it thus doing nothing but wasting your time and losing money at the same time. Obtain the best price you can, take the best offer that allows you to simply get paid and they handle the removal of the device, and the option that requires you to take zero additional risk. Prove the device is what you say it is and let them do the rest.
